Virgin

I asked my womb in January of 2017 what I’m to birth in this current moment, and in came the Virgin, Whore, Bitch, Witch course. To embody these archetypes, these labels, that hold a charge for women. To dance with these personas to acknowledge how power impacts our bodies through words, sex, money and time. To become aware of how we play in dynamics of power-over (perpetrator) and power-under (victim), to become power-with (freedom). To move ‘Beyond Our Boxes’ and undam our inner Creatrix for the ultimate liberation: power-with art.

I ‘caught’ this creation at home alone with my hands and crown open. Receiving these instructions I said yes to the responsibility of tending it and listening to how it wanted to grow. As a child would, the course took on a life of its own. What began as 1:1 sessions with women in my Soma practice, grew to group work, a yearlong archetype photoshoot, and ultimately crescendoed with a community variety show in 2019 titled ‘Beyond Our Boxes’.

After the show I assumed the course had reach its completion. Until recently.

I was in Oaxaca with friends and family this winter when I met a kindred Gene Keys geek who agreed to facilitate a circle for us to go deeper. We held council on the 55th sphere to contemplate the shadow of ‘Victimhood’ and the gift of ‘Freedom’. According to Gene Keys creator Richard Rudd, this frequency band is playing out in humanity on a collective level. After our inquiry and potent shares, the next morning I was journaling all the ways that I subtly and overtly play victim in my life.

As I was scribbling my list, I gasped with humorous recognition at the theme surfacing around words, sex, money and time. Lo and behold! It was time I enroll myself in my own course, of course! 8 years later, it is just as relevant to dance with these shadows as ever. I also created this content for my future self. Now the Virgin Whore Bitch Witch was staring back at me and cackling. The time is NOW.

So on Spring Equinox, I summoned my inner Virgin-Priestess. She is power-with words. She wields a sword, her tongue, as a weapon and a tool. When I’m in my power-under (victim) state, I use this sword against myself. When I’m in my power-over (perpetrator) state, I use this sword against others. When I’m in my power-with (freedom in relations) state, I use this sword as discernment. This iteration I’m including power-in (spiritual freedom) state, where the sword is a direct line of verticality that pierces through all delusions and lies in all realms.

The power of the Virgin archetype lies in her innocence, her sovereignty and her inspiration. She is married to her Spirit.

What if we hold within us the divine innocence and purity of Spirit that cannot be taken, claimed and therefore ‘lost’? What if every conception was immaculate?

Our inner Virgin-Priestess is the element of air and represents our breath, our voice and our expression of compassionate truth. She is connected to the morning, the season of spring, filled with vitality, excitement, hope and new life. Her head and heart are aligned to create a bridge, to sound her resonant song with clarity, sincerity and focus.

In our most integrated state, our Virgin archetype clearly S-P-E-L-L-S our hearts desires and become the author of our own story.

As I resurrect this course for my own course within the course of my life, I am devoting myself to practices for power-with and power-in words and wield my sword of discernment for what I choose to spell. Including this site where I will share Her Stories with intent to uplift, inspire and welcome all who choose to read.

How do you connect with your inner Virgin archetype? I’d love to hear with your comments.
